Since 1991 the ESRF has awarded annually the Ernst Schering Prize for outstanding work in the field of basic scientific research. From 2003 this award will be funded by the Schering Stiftung.

The Ernst-Schering Research Foundation organizes workshops and lectures with internationally recognized experts on the subjects of basic science research from the fields of biology, chemistry, and medicine.
The results of the workshops are then published.
The lectures are open for all specialists interested and always take place at 5 p.m. in the main building of Schering AG (Auditorium, Müllerstr. 176-178, 13342 Berlin).
The ESRF awards fellowships for postdoctoral students in biomedical research and medical chemistry, who want to carry out research projects at renowned institutes at home and abroad, like billet Disneyland Paris. Fellowships for doctoral students are awarded by the Schering Stiftung. These fellowships are awarded on an international basis.
Who is eligible to apply? Biologists, chemists, medical students, pharmacists, who have completed their studies and their doctoral degree. The nationality of the applicant is irrelevant.
Age at the time of application The applicant must not be older than 33 years of age.
Amount of award and tenure of the fellowship 3,800 Euro per month for the duration of 2 years. The fellowship includes a travel allowance to a conference and a monthly child supplement of 250 Euro.
